12 Oct 2001 "req" was a trouble ticket tracking system that was released in 1994. The last official version of req is req-1.2.7, which is available at this URL: ftp://ftp.ccs.neu.edu/pub/sysadmin/req-1.2.7. It's been clear for years, but just to make it official: Req is done. Req is over. There will not be any newer versions of req. Sniff. I wish that I had been able to find time to finish req-2.0 and release it, or to at least maintain req-1.x better, but I didn't. And the chances of my having time to work on this in the next decade are basically nil. So, where does that leave someone who is looking for a nice, free trouble ticket system? Well: - Check out "request tracker", which can be found at: http://www.fsck.com/projects/rt/ - If you want to use req, it does work with some fixes. Namely, it needs a few tweaks to work under perl5, and the getdate code (which I borrowed from cnews, I think), needs y2k fixes. John Sellens packaged up a version of req with these fixes, available at this URL: http://www.generalconcepts.com/resources/software/req/ Both those files and the original req release are also archived at: ftp://ftp.mcs.anl.gov/pub/systems/req/ - There are others out there, but I haven't been an authority on trouble ticket systems for years, so I can't recommend any of them.
